this is a very vivid and a very well told account of your life as an oil rig work. you and your friends, colleagues but your life on the line everytime you go off-shore and on to the rigs to mine the oil. we take foregranted of the dangers as well as the hardships that you and your friends and colleagues face on a daily basis. we do not use oil just a source of energy but as a product in many of the items that we use on a day to day basis. i salute you and your friends and colleagues for your bravery.

Hi Kat, First of all I would like to thank you for your comments on that story. It was a recent documentry I saw on TV that prompted me to write it, and as soon as I staretd I instantly remembered all the faces of my deceast colleuges. We were all a lot younger in those days, all chasing the big money, the risks involved never entered our heads at the time. It is only now when I am older that I have the chance to look back on it, a chance they will never have. Well at least their memory will now be recognised with the help of that story.

Thanks Kat, The work that we all did is still going on even today, its just a newer generation thats doing it, I suppose the safety has been improved since our time. I would never have thought for one minute that I would end my working career in the ambuulance service, but then again I never thought that I would be sent aborad to work in oil industry, its a fuuny old world

Hi Kat, Ive just finished off that long article about Moscow & Azerbaijan, it took ages
. Yes if I had more hindsight I would be a lot better for it. Still I can look back on it all now with no regrets. Its just a pity that I cant do what I want any more, and have to curtail it to my ability, Hey! but is was fun

Hi Kat, thats as you are the second person who have said that! The only problem is that none of my stories are long enough
I did do 39 pages once, then ran out of steam
for example that last one about Baku is only about 3 or 4 pages

smudger when i tried to a writer's course, i think it provided addresses for magazines to write short stories. magazines like reader's digest, and there is another one but i cannot remember the name but it's published in scotland all accept short stories.

Hi Kat, Maybe I should dig around on the net, and see what I can find out. The short story side is a better idea really, as you say no harm in me looking around Eh!
