The Patient Assisted Dying Bill, which will legalise euthanasia in the UK, is due its second reading in the House of Lords on June 6. This is a dangerous bill which could open the floodgates to euthanasia in the UK given the current political and social climate...

Ohhhh toughie!
Euthanasian should not be legalised throughout the UK for any body to just perform. The use of euthanasia should be a legal pratice however if.
a) The person wishing to die is witnessed to have said so.
b) Research is done by a qualified doctor, to confirm that the person has no real life to live and is in a great deal of pain.
c) The doctor gives a final conclusion that would make euthanisia the best answer to the persons pain.
and
d) The doctor performs the act professionally using a substance that is quick acting and painless, like morphine (if that is quick and painless!).

It shouldnt be a decision made by one Doctor alone, It should be the opinon of a second Doctor,
all the family must be consulted. then there could be no malicious relatives claming that euthanasia was carried out illegaly performed

Okay okay okay research done by a few doctors. Not any doctor, a trusted one who would not risk their career in anyway.
All family members who were consulted with should sign some form of document that states that everything was done in a professional manner with a professional doctor ect.

It all depends on what the criteria is within the legal requirements. All cases must be treated as an individual, and as you both rightly say, medical history background must be investigated into, as well as the correct medical practitions consulted, and also the family being left behind, looked into, in case it is a bump off 'the old man for his money' scenario.
