How very odd... I know the link was there AND, to be sure, I posted it twice. Only one shows up, and no link....

No, that IS weird... The link refuses to appear.

Well, my only suggestion is that you visit the previous links and go to the first image in the folder. That, in itself is weird, since I can't get the original photo to appear, just the posted image.

I like it a lot. Should there be an apostrophe on "Researchers'"?

I'm sure we will be asked about copyright considerations when this goes to the Artists. Are your originals in the public domain, Mudhooks?

It would seem that something towards a consensus is appearing about a banner: some sort of geographical/symbolic representation of the regions as sort of an idea map of the country. West coast islands, mountains, prairies, Canadian Shield, Toronto, Peace Tower, Citadelle de Quebec, Maritimes (Peggy's Cove, The Rock), with an Inukshuk watching over it all from the North. Does that sound right?

I'd been thinking of something in a sort of Tiffany stained-glass style but I like Mudhooks' photo-montage as well.

What do we think of Rev.'s Latin motto for the Badge? I like it.

1. Yes, public domain
2. Yes, should be an apostrophe and I wil fix it. I thought there should be, but when I looked at the title of the club, the apostrophe was just off my screen. Duh....

I'm just in the process of leaving a message on every member's PS inviting them to join the discussion.

This will take a little while.

I corrected the spelling and it is back up with the last link I gave.

I think the problem was that my ad-stopper won't show anything with "banner.jpg" in it.... I changed the filename and it works now.

No.

That was a lot of posts I just made. My conversation list looks like there's something wrong with it.smiley - laugh

Call me Harry

I like the badge although the text of The Maple Leaf Forever is making the image a touch messy. I don't know how to cure that. Possibly making them more distinct and smaller might help.
I actually prefered the pencil sketch of the banner to the photo shop version. smiley - smiley I liked the impressionist style of it. The photo shop version is alright except that the Inukshuk looks a bit odd. I think it would look better on the horizon.
In all excellent work is being done here and thank you all for your efforts.

Nice banner, MH! smiley - ok

I was going to play about with one, but I think your rendering is ready to pass on to the CAs

"The Maple Leaf Forever" text was sort of an afterthought... and shortly after doing it my router decided to blow up...smiley - sadface

I can post a few variations, including one with the revised Canadian motto: "A Mari usque Ad Mare, usque Ad Mare", if you like, now I have replaced my router smiley - groan

I'll also post the graphic elements separately, and let the assigned CA mess about smiley - winkeye

... later this evening, though. I've been computer hardware shopping and my brain needs refueling smiley - cappuccinosmiley - cake

'I liked the impressionist style of it'

smiley - laugh

It should be impressionist: I scrawled it in ballpoint on the back of an old school field-trip permission slip. Did I mention I was thinking Tiffany stained-glass?smiley - laugh

My concern about the maple leaf forever text is that the badge will likely be quite small in its final version and the text may just disappear into a blur.smiley - erm A small similar concern might be raised about the photo-montage banner: will the individual elements be clear in a final version, particularly to non-Canadians? I'm not sure.smiley - erm

Actually, Mudhooks, I've just looked again at your banner on a computer with more normal display settings than what I usually use. The concern I raised in my last post has disappeared.smiley - ok
