I would be comfortable leaving the typeface up to the community artist.

Do we want a Banner? I feel okay about the pictures Lonefaery left us with except that the map is crappy (and inaccurate). I think it might be nice to replace the map with a banner. It might be a little complicated, but I picture a sort of cross-section of the country, looking north, with Vancouver Island on the left and mountains and stretching accross the bottom of the banner little prairies and canadian shield and moose and mounties and poutine and ending up with a lighthouse on the Newfoundland coast with the words 'Canadian Researchers' Club' in the sky.

I like the banner idea. Don't forget a wee little tiny pot plant on the far left and an itsy lobster on the far right.

These are just ideas. Go ahead and muck them about how ever you'd like. And then at some point we should go to the community artists with something as specific as possible and they'll do it up according to H2G2 rules.

All I have are ideas. My graphic senses are non existant. Well, I do have a strong critical eye which means that when all is said and done I'll criticise the result......but then I could take a pretty picture of it.

I like the idea of the banner as outlined above. The Inukshuk and maple leaf badge is pretty good, I'd add a circular scroll around the outside with the "A Mari usque Ad Mare, usque Ad Mare" from sea to sea to sea motto around the outside (I know that adds an extra sea, but the arctic should be included)

uh, normally I would say that a two thirds majority would be needed, but I think in truly Canadian fashion we can plunge ahead 'notwithstanding' any complaints from members. Maybe an active effort should be undertaken to solicit votes?

I caught this just before I have to take off on the road for work for a week. They have my vote.

My only suggestion for Taliesin's design would be to ligten the color of the text. The bit over the white shows up well, but the other bit is a bit too dark to read. I like it, though!
