Canada had bio-weapons? Quel surprise! I am amazed. At least they are being *honest* about it... good on them!

Yeah, like most industrialized nations we have had chemical and bio weapons in the past but unlike certain other large nations in North America we have tried to get rid of them instead of stockpiling them and have back an international agreement to get rid of them.

Excellent!

oops that should have been "have backed" an international accord on banning chemical and biological weapons, not dissimilar to the international convention on landmines.

Saladin was a Kurd and Richard never learned to speak English.
I just heard Hillary Clinton on the BBC talking about whether Saddam had WMD. Her biggest argument in favour was "If he didn't, why did he behave like he did? Why didn't he just say 'come on in and have a look around'?"
Of course, Sen. Clinton is forgetting that the inspectors were there (and that he didn't ever throw them out, they were pulled). Also, that's the old Fascist "trust the government, if you have nothing to hide you shouldn't mind having your orifices searched" argument. I expected better from her.
I'm really learning what to expect.

Did you know that George W. Bush is an anagram of "Hebrew Gog US"?

I think it's a sign.

btw, I read a book about the chemical and biological weapons thing in Canada some time ago. I think I still have it in my work van and I will dig it up to reference it, but if I remember correctly there is an island in the St. Lawrence that still has a tiny stockpile. It seems that it was left there due to a beurocratic error and was eventually sealed under something like two tons of concrete. I will find the book and get back to you all, but I hope we aren't invaded for hoarding a few gallons of WMD!

This whole WMD thing makes me laugh. Ha. Ha.
Give me ten bags of quick release fertilizer and a few jerry cans of diesel and I'll give you a WMD. Just ask Timothy McVeigh. Oh, yeah. He's dead.

I wonder if USAsians realise how facist things like the patriot act and the speeches of their prez sound?

some do. many do. perhaps most do. There are a great many in the U. S. who are very upset with what has happened to their country under Bush.

I expected much better of Hillary ClintonHer argument is absurd, as you say... Saddam *did* say "come and look!"

About all a private citizen can do is vote Democrat next time around if they are looking for a change, but that won't necessarily lead to a huge change. American Democracy is remarkably stable due to its immense inertia, which, of course, makes it something of a dictatorship of past generations.
But why is a Canadian explaining the American system to a New Zealander? Aren't their any Bolivians around that could do it?
