Hi Kat,
That will depend on whether you want a simple link or something like a guest book.

I've just had a quick look at your page, Kat. I notice that you have quite a few links where you are trying to force people into plain skin, eg "A552908skin=plain". If you really want to do that you need to include a ? character in between, eg A552908?skin=plain

Thanks SEF, I was not trying to force people into using plain skin but I was given the advice of putting entry links by Intern as this is what how he told me to do it.

You shouldn't really force people into the plain skin unnecessarily however. If it's just a link to an interesting article, don't, it's really annoying.

one thing to realy bear in mind as well is not every one is on a computer and have a lot of problems geting into some conversations in different skins if they are long convosations
the aces code of conduct was one even tho it was in plain skin at some points it wouldnt load up when i as on my digibox it just boot me so its good that way

That's irrelevant intern. If you've set your preferences, or you've followed a link with /plain/ in it (not ?skin=plain) then you will stay in the plain skin.
If the goal is to give yourself a link to get you into the plain skin, ?skin=plain isn't the correct approach. A /dna/h2g2/plain/Something url will make the skin persist when you select further links.
Basically my point is that it's just as bad advocating being digibox-only-friendly as it is advocating computer-only-friendly. If you use skin neutral links, your pages will work best in all skins, on all platforms, in all formats. Remember that the idea of guideml and skins is that the look can change, without having to change the content.
