We shall see. It's important to point out that I'm not angry at the proposal, I just think it's misguided.

And I totally agree with you, my point is I don't want to enter into a political debate, all I did was mention in passing things I'd heard on the news and which was pretty much common knowlege and it got yanked, all I want is some guidlines on what is and isn't permissable on the h2g2 boards

If it has anything to do with the war, don't post it on h2g2. That's pretty much the drift of it all. There's more info at A735275.

but people aren't really talking about anything else, TV channels are clogged up with debate, discussion, protest and God knows what else, I just want to know what I can say without being yanked only no one wants to tell me

You can talk about the BBCi policy on silencing us regarding the war, but not about the war itself, at least, not on h2g2. It's that simple.

arrgg Ok I support the protest over the BBC's policy
shhhh what's that I hear is it a dead horse being flogged
No Offence Whoami but we (on the X Files Board) have tried to open a dialog with the beeb before, a lot of dead horses were flogged and a lot of heads were banged against brick walls and we were ignored by everyone, I'm afraid to say that once stubbon minds have been made up not a lot can change them
Sorry to put a dampner on things but I am being practical here, we seemed to have said the same thing over and over again and we still get the same tired old replies again and again

h2g2's Proposals have worked well in the past, mainly with the h2g2 staff themselves. Their recommendation is that a proposal is written up and then maybe they might take it to their bosses. It's worth a try, at least. h2g2 does get some of what it wants, often through the hard work of the Italics - think Transgressions Procedure, Peer Moderation Pilot Project...

Well it's nice to know that protest does work, here's hoping this will do some good rather than the ranting that has been going on, keep up the good work you have my support just ask

Whoami,
with the Transgressions Procedure and Peer Moderation Pilot Project it concerned proposals for internal h2g2 procedures where the Italics had much to say about the result.
In this case it is dropped down from way up, where they also have/had to find out where exactly the line between acceptable and forbidden must be drawn.

Yes, but Peer Moderation wasn't something they could do without consent from on high, as I remember it. So there's hope yet.
