YES! I'm not the only one!

ITs sooo nice to find other dictionary readers in the world...
One word that should be thrown around h2g2 more: quodlibet
Can I join the society? My birthday was 2 days ago, and my friend bought me a new dictionary as a present, (since my old Lexicon Encyclopedic edition is already 7 years old...) I guess that means I qualify, right?

Hi Have you checked out some of the other pages for wordsmiths and other dictionary readers. There are links on my personal space to other threads.
Not everone signs in every day, sometimes replies arrive eventually.

Having been directed this way - I'd like to sign up as well... My current favourite word - circadian. Just because it is, okay?

My English dictionary is bout 20 years old now, but I wouldn't know what to do without it, it's the one book I read in every day
There are very many words I could name here, but one that for some reason I never can recall the meaning of, is 'altruism'

Hi B'Elenana (You can't fool me, I know who you are!). Happy New Year! . Funnily enough, I know the meaning of the word 'altruism' and not infrequently want to use it in conversation - but I can seldom remember the word!

Hi R BIGAL, right now, I know the meaning of it, but...you know how it is with grey-haired people's memory
A happy new year to you

I buy a new dictionary every five years. If I don't I start worrying that I'm missing something.

I've got several dictionaries, my favourite is a small 'Etymological Dictionary' which I've kept ever since I left school. I find these serve my purposes very well; if I need further info. I go to Online Dictionaries - but seldom have to.

My dictionary isn't exactly an etymological one, but usually mentions the -known or guessed- source of the words, that's why I still use it, I'm afraid I'd be disappointed with a new edition.
