A Conversation for The Campaign to Promote Respect for Microbes: An Awareness Program
Microbes deserve recognition!
Farlander Posted Aug 29, 2004
I was wondering why it took you so long to find this campaign, Dale! Very well. Welcome to the Campaign to Promote Respect for Microbes! You know where to find your complimentary cup of yoghurt and badge (it's on the main page ); I suppose you're not adverse to being branded with a sizzling inoculation loop.
An invite to you members of the campaign. A bunch of us have started a forum called 'The Society for the Appreciation of E. coli', although it's not just primarily a microbiology forum, and has boards for other topics. Those of you who are interested might like to follow this link: http://microbionuts.forumer.com. We welcome scientists and non-scientists (who are pro-microbes ) alike.

YOU never applied to join the campaign! Bah, where's the [tickle] smiley when you need it....
I assume, though, that since you're frequenting my forum, that you're a supporter of microbes. So welcome to the campaign, have a cup of yoghurt on us, and please get out your bottle of Smirnoff to distract you while I brand you on the arm. Your badge awaits at Headquarters.

Eee, that tickles! But you're right, I didn't apply! Glad to see that's fixed... at least sort of. Now hurry up and brand me so you can get some rest, silly clownfish.

I have never met anybody who was such a sucker for punishment! Fine fine, it's *you* who has to endure the pain and the sizzling of your flesh as this red-hot, superheated wire loop presses itself into your flesh.... Bwahahahahaha.

We have the strangest relationship, you and I. If I didn't know any better, I'd think you enjoyed branding me . Now go to bed!

Yes it is!
I like the bits at the end; nice to see that academic publications can still enjoy a bit of humour!

Anyone who wishes to join is more than welcome. Welcome to the Campaign, Pantherlady! Here's your complimentary cup of yoghurt . Please collect your badge from the main site, and join the queue for your branding. (I've not been around for some time, so there's plenty of folks awaiting the burning inoculation loop )

We're not?
Er, um, no. Please do not brand me. Please do not press that red-hot thing on my bare flesh, which is very painful (oh baby).

One would have thought, judging by the positive response of the newer members to the whole branding thing, that Farlander was operating some kind of S&M Emporium at Hootoo....
Dale, the branding is necessary if you are to empathise with the microbes... think how they feel when the inoculation loop burns them to a crisp.
