Sometimes the source code is worth reading. It tells you different things. A simple right-click for properties dialog or hover for status bar will show me a URL though, eg for a blob.

I'm hardly going to deny being a geek or guru. You seem to regard it as something bad. It is not bad to be intelligent and knowledgeable. Only some stupid and ignorant people like to pretend it is (or those who are intimidated by them) and not all do. Unlike some geeks I can find simple ways to explain something too though. NB Anyone wishing to get even slightly more geeky in the h2g2 context should look at <./>NamedEntries</.> and explore from there.

Yes, but it's not worth risking its lack in other people and leaving something like that open for those who don't know any better.

Sorry - no I'm not laughing at you LeoAlpha, its just that I've just been all through this palava with sef the which you'll see if you look at the backlog. Seeing as you're fairly new I'll help cos you'll never understand SEF.
When you edit your space make sure you tick the box for GuideML.
Then put the following code in before the end of the tag
If you want the badge to the left or the right, instead of center put right or left. Make sure you copy the code exactly with all inverted commas etc. That should do the trick.

Perhaps it is getting to the point where Farlander needs to add the code to the page itself next to the badge since it seems that no-one reads the backlog.

lets hear it for user friendliness - like every other club on hootoo cos if we want to grow we must make it easy for people. I think there are probably many people on hootoo who get intimidated and scared by the coding stuff.
I want to belong to a society that's big and ballsy enough not to feel the need to show off.

I don't regard a badge displayed by members of a club on their personal spaces as showing off! Almost all of the people who use GuideML at all are able to add such a picture to their personal space.

If you'd bothered to read the backlog luv, you might have understood the context. you've got the wrong end of the stick entirely - for your information it was about having code displayed - AND I WAS BEING IRONIC!!!!

I've read the backlog, and I know what you were commenting about. However, I may have "misread" your ambiguous second paragraph of post 311.

One possible response: "Because you can't spell 'great'? "
You see, that response would have been wide open to misinterpretation. Would I have been teasing you in a friendly way; teasing you in an unkind way; flaming you; mocking you...? I believe this is the first thread in which we've met, so you neither could have made an informed judgement about that post (if I had posted it), nor I about your posts written in that style. Thus, in my opinion, it is not right for you to so tactlessly accuse me of having not read the backlog, or to *blame* me for having the wrong end of the stick.
Anyway, all of that's offtopic in this thread, which is about the microbes! *respects them*
By the way, Farlander, the club's banner looks great displayed above threads using the FORUMTHREADINTRO tag.

I was wondering why the banner hadn't been added to the other club pages (when I looked last night).

Obviously you hadn't read the baklog (sic), because you said that you didn't think displaying the badge was showing off when as I wasn't saying that anyway.
I think if you and I are to get on Rho, you'll need to start boneing up on irony; otherwise I can see one long tedious confusioning (sic), misundertsanding coming our way!!!!!!!!

It seems more likely that you don't understand the difference between irony and sarcasm.
