Mikey the Humming Mouse - A3938628 Learn More About the Edited Guide!

Hmmm... This reads a lot like an essay written for school, which is what I'm guessing it is. Not that there's anything technically *wrong* with submitting an essay you've written for school to Peer Review, but I think it's important to take into account who your audience is.

When you're writing a paper for school, you're writing for an audience that a) has to read what you wrote whether they want to or not, and b) is probably somewhat interested in the subject already.

On the other hand here, at h2g2 --

* People get to decide which entries they want to read and skip the ones that look dull.

* It's up to the author of the entry to somehow hook the reader into being interested in the subject, if they aren't already.

While I think that your entry has some good content in it, I do think that the length (long) and the style (blandly academic) would be a turn-off for most of the readers here at h2g2.

However, that's definitley something that's *fixable*. I'm not saying that you should shove jokes in everywhere. I just think it might be more readable if it was a) more concise, and b) written in a more casual, conversational style.

Just my smiley - 2cents

Why not have a good look round at other entries and then think about how your information is presented?

Try looking at A264520 as well, as using GuideML might be a big help - and if I can learn it, anyone can!

Hi Peter,

I see you haven't been around for a few weeks, so I hope you come back soon and make the minor changes suggested smiley - rainbow

Here's a couple of entries you might want to look at/link to

A592706 - The Fairtrade Mark

A137585 - Economics

For someone like me (with no training in the subject) they cover some involved topics in a relatively simple and engaging way - and I'm sure that, with a few tweeks, your entry will too smiley - smiley

hi,
you right this was written as a piece of work for university. That’s why it sounds like it does. I thought it might be useful to post on here for all to read, but you right I should have thought more about the audience and made the right changes. When I get the time I will modify it. Thanks for your interest.

Peter

most of the methods you describe for improving the balance of trade are only temporary measures.

you also miss one. dumping.

the americans are currently trying to promote world trade (which as they mean it means allowing american products which are subsidised to flood local unsibsidised markets).

this didn't work for too long for the british, and it wor't work for long with the americans either, as it causes a backlash against the dumped products, and the country doing the dumping.

There is only one thing worse than being Gosho, and that is not being Gosho

Are you going to take on board any of the suggestions and do some work on this entry peter?

I'm forbidden to use the link at the bottom to the "internet" via manchester. It should be modified or removed.

What do you think then. Looks like the companion piece is going back to entry, so I propose the same for this.
