Some of us were writing sequals before Mr Colfer ever even thought about picking up a pen. I know I personally have been working on my own ideas since about 1986 and I am still working on them.
Not even the mighty DNA procrastinated THAT long 
Some of my ideas are here on the "what happened to fenchurch" thread and that also has the link to my blog where my whole story in its current entireity exists as well as on the "see what i did" thread of the douglas adams continuum website.
