A Conversation for Great Radio Shows
Deadringers

Deadringers on Radio 4 is worth a listen. It stars Jon Culshaw, Jan Ravers and a few other (can't remember the names - there'll be a page of it somewhere on the BBC Radio 4 website). It has won many awards and the impressions are so convinvcing that when one of the cast pretended to be William Hague before the elections, he managed to almost get past Downing Street switchboard to speak to the PM.

He did get through to the PM, but was rumbled because he called him Tony, whereas William Hague would always call him Prime Minister.

I prefer it on Radio4, vs TV, as it sends up the station itself - the Today Programme, Desert Island Discs, Womens' Hour and of course The Archers (oooh Edddaayyyy). On the TV it has to be aimed to get as many viewers as possible so loses out on some of the more estoric stuff - like the Newsnight Review doing Dr Seuss Then again maybe it is just because the costumes and makeup can never be as good as the imagination Until later....

I do have one complaint in that everytime they do an impression they have to say who they are, which is a shame as they should be good enough for them not to have to say.
Also the bits where they ring up members of the public and pretend to be Doctor Who, Yoda, Obi-Wan Kenobi or President Dubya are very amusing.
