A Conversation for Relaxation Techniques

Forget it all

When it all gets too much I switch off from the world by listening to music I can really get involved in. Whether it is playing air guitar and head banging to 'Bohemian Rhapsody' or doing the 'Timewarp' no one can see me in my bedroom with the curtains closed and I can just go mad.

Yeah, I understand that. I tend to DANCE like a crazy person to let off steam and relax. I put on lots of very loud music, close the shutters on my windows, and DANCE!

I've actually posted another conversation thingy on this topic asking WHY most relaxation techniques tend to be really boring! Or at least, not exciting. Can't one relax whilst doing something exciting? Why is it that everyone's idea of relaxing is sitting in a hot bath or meditating or GETTING A GOOD NIGHT'S SLEEP. Heck, if I knew how to get a good night's sleep I wouldn't be here in this conversation.

I can't sit still for meditation, I cannot take a long hot bath because my bathtub is too small. Perhaps, as was suggested, I could eat healthy food or drink lots of water. But in fact, I'm already drinking two litres of water a day!

Then it was suggested that I could relax by doing stuff like parachute jumping or hang-gliding. But these are actually scary things to me, not exciting things.

any ideas? smiley - smiley

SING.
Loudly.
However badly [or well] at the top of your lungs to a song you just can't help joining in with - however dire anyone else may think it is, you cant help joining in because it's how you're feeling!
My favourite Chilling music is Judie Tzuke's 'Stay With me Til Dawn' Greatest Hits for slow stuff or Def Leppard's 'Vault' Greatest Hits for something faster and heavier. Or something really obscure, whatever you feel like, put it on, and as loud as possible. Try and outsing your stereo. [Not recommended for flat-dwellers at 2am though!] Just let it all out, put all your frustrations into your singing, dance, leap, yodel, whatever makes you feel good. You'll be exhusted and croaky by the time you're done and nothing in the world will matter any more.
You'll feel exhaulted! Trust me! I'm a fisherman smiley - winkeye
Bet you can't guess what I've been doing this evening! :D
