A Conversation for Seattle, Washington, USA

puget sound

chickadee (wheee!)

Very cool article, and those are definitely places worth visiting. Mt. Ranier is totally gorgeous. However, one thing you missed, and it's not that big a deal--Puget Sound is pronounced PYOO-jit sound, not poo-GET or poojay. Just so you know, if you're visiting. It's a mistake most Americans not from the northwest make (along with calling the river that runs through Portland the WILL-uh-mette--it's pronounced wil-LA-mit, spelled willamette). I'd also like to mention, if you're in the Seattle area and have transportation (trains go from seattle to portland), that Portland is about 2 hours south of Seattle, a bit smaller (and therefor more walkable), with less rain and the world's largest independent bookstore -- Powell's, an entire city block 4 stories high. It's a very pretty city with 9 bridges over the same river within city limits. I'm pretty sure we've got more coffee shops per capita, also. smiley - ok
