Well, this article comes out in March... But it got me hungry, nevertheless. Just one minor detail, though. Those calendars are really spelled Adventskalender - with an e insdead of an a in the last syllable. Sometimes they are also called Weihnachtskalender (Christmas calender).

Hey, thanks for the feedback. And yeah, i hoped that it would make it *before* last Christmas but... well, obviously that didn't work out. On the other hand the next Christmas will come for sure.

And thanks for pointing out the spelling mistake. Oops. And I can't even blame it on those bloody new spelling rules. Erh...

Only, I never heard "Weihnachtskalender". Hmm, maybe that's a regional phrase or something?

Weihnachtskalender might indeed be regional (I am from northern Germany, but my parents come from different parts altogether...) - or political. I was raised up in East Germany, maybe that had something to do with it? But no, probably not, we did all the usual rituals of the Adventszeit. (Much more so than we do now, but that is most likely an age thing.)

God, the world is really small, Yelbakk! I just took a look at your space and saw that you not only live in Berlin but that you study at the Humboldt, too. Well... me too! Actually I even study German Literature, too, though not to become a teacher and at the TU but isn't this a weird coincidence?
