Has any one noticed that school curry always has potatoe in. Why? They dont even go well together. The rice is alway put in an oven without water as well, and is so dry you need to drink the foul over chlorinated (or floride)water.

School curry is an oxymoron, rather like military intelligence. The stuff they serve at schools called curry id simply the same old slop with a bit if turmeric to make it turn yelllow, and some rice on the side to disguise the maggots!

Not about school curry, or any other kind of curry really. It is simply that I find it immensely gratifying to see that the Dan Quayle spelling of 'potato' has not died along with that great man's political career. Keep up the good work.

Potatoes in a curry are lovely, if they're given just the right amount of time so that the flavour permeates the first quarter-inch but the middle's still as nature intended. The problem with school curries lies in the belief that you just need to make a casserole and throw in curry powder and assorted fruit.

Potatoe is disgusting, and revolting except for Gnocciand potatoe cakes.
BTW. whos Dan Quayle?

Why do they always put loads of saltanas in? When have you ever had a resturant curry with saltanas in. And isnt it gross the way the saltanas swell up and then pop when you bite on them?

I recommend you never go to Saskatchewan. I am led to believe that their state dish is a potato wrapped in pastry then baked in the oven.
However, it was an Ontarian told me this, so it might have been a little biased .

Risking assault from Peta & Goulash(couldn't remember where the extra letters went) I have to say that I love a curry (stew style) with potato AND sultanas, for the simple reason that it isn't what you get in a restaurant.
If I wanted real Indian food I'd go to an Indian restaurant and choose something from a menu where the word curry features only as an ingredient.
As coincidence would have it, tonight I will take the leftover curried vegetable soup that has sustained me the last three days, add potatoes, sultanas and sausages (plus more curry powder) in order that I may eat for the rest of the week. Yummy

My school always did curry this way. The sultanas ended up looking like grapes and tasted awful.

My school contently does this, and the stroganof is always covered in a gunge, the call mushroom. They also dont follow my recipe for Gholash either.

When I went to school no-one had ever heard of curry! So you think you're hard done by!

I'd rather have gone to a school where the cook's hadn't heard of curry, than go to one where they served the crud we had to accept as curry!
