A Conversation for American Diner Slang

Another fantastic entry about something of which I had no idea existed - this place is great like that!
One question though, in the list of vocabulary, shouldn't the entry "cherry - Maiden's delight" be the other way round? Unless of course its THAT kind of diner.
Of course if I have got this wrong then I'm going to feel really stupid!

Not sure what you mean - 'the other way round'
Cherry is a slang term for the hymen, therefore virginity, as in 'losing one's cherry'. A 'Maiden' is a virgin (as in 'maiden over' in cricket - an over with no runs scored off it), and if she wants to stay that way then she's delighted to have her cherry

Sorry, I wasn't particularly clear there.
In the list of words and their meanings, the slang is given first, followed by the "plain English" translation. For example the first entry reads
"Adam and Eve on a raft/log - Two poached eggs on toast"
However the entry I referred to has what I would presume to be the translation (cherries) first, followed by what I think should be the slang term (Maiden's delight). The alphabetisation would tend to support this.
Of course never having been to an American Diner, I don't know if virginity is a common item on the menu, but I'm guessing not!
Does that make things any clearer? Hope so!
