It's a (Suspect) Sign

Editor's Note: Paigetheoracle found this sign in Norfolk. A check on the internet indicates that people have been finding them all over the English-speaking world, globally, in various weird places. The sightings go back at least 60 years. The signs, which are bogus (nobody can find this 'Duke of Gumby' fella), seem to have been a joke of the late-19th or early-20th centuries, based on the materials and methods used. If you want one, they sell them on eBay and other antiquarian sites. Prices vary on availability and condition.

An antique joke sign claiming that poachers will be shot and then interrogated, allegedly from 1868 by the Duke of Gumby.
