Factoid Fred's Frogspawn Folly
Paigetheoracle writes:
Real frog, pretend frog and frogspawn. Saw a quartet in a pool, so knew that Spring had sprung. Heard them first though. Then on the way to the forest pond itself, saw something glistening in the sunlight - a courting couple of rani-rani as opposed to bufo-bufo, common frogs as opposed to common toads but funnily enough as Willem will tell you sand lizards don't have a double barrelled name like that. Frogspawn is in a single gelatinous mass, where toadspawn is a line of eggs wrapped around a stalk at the bottom of the pond and newts eggs are wrapped singly in leaves at the bottom of a pond.
