Nice article. I feel the Socreress maybe deserves more than just a passing mention, being as she was the IMF control to He-Man's Jim Phelps, but that's a small quibble.
I notice though that you haven't mentioned the origins of He-Man as the merchandising line for the film Conan the Barbarian, hastily back-engineered into the He-Man line when they realised that the film had graphic violence, sex and stuff in it.

Is all that stuff about the Conan film for real? So Skeletor was originally Thulsa-Doom!

So the story goes.
I think it's pretty solid that the He-Man doll was originally Conan. I think the rest was thrown in later, but some of them might have roots in the Conan moulds.
