UK rules are somewhat different to the USA rules in the article, so BEWARE!
Here in the UK septic tanks are sized by the calculation below:
The smallest size allowed is 2700L and this is only for up to 4 persons. This size must be increased by 180 litres for every additional person. UK rules state that water useage is 180 litres/person/day, NOT 400 litres/person/day (Section H2 UK Building Regulations 2002)
