Hello
I have uncovered a large open pit in an area of the garden that was once used as a small caravan site, by the previous owner.
The cover comprised of a timber structure covered with corrugated metal sheets, has now deteriorated and collapsed. It has not been used for quite a few years, but has a lot of water in it. The house also has a septic tank but this is lower down and covered by manholes.
What can I cover this open pit with to make it safe? The pit is about 6'wide x 12'long and about 6'deep.
If it is redundant should I empty it ?
