Being the humourless git that I am,
it should be "Abbé Moigno, a priest-cum-scientist of the period".
Contrary to popular belief, "cum" is not a dirty word but Latin for "(combined) with".
I reckon if you use "inter alios" instead of "among other things", you might as well get this one right...
