A Conversation for Great Ways to Spend a Sunday

Okay - so the temptation is to kick back on the sofa with a beer and get all square eyed in front of the tv whilst you dread another day at work.

But why does it have to be that way? Personally I like to actually make something of my Sunday's. Whether it be a sport such as mountain biking, visiting family and friends, or visiting somewhere else apart from the same old stinky town. A Sunday can be a rewarding day if you are willing to get out of bed before 11.00 and keep your butt away from the sofa.

My ideal Sunday is a trip to the coast with some of my friends, and getting some surfing in. That way I get some sport in, build friendships and have the opportunity to go somewhere new all in one day.

I only worry about Monday mornings on a Monday morning, and by then it's too late as it is already here. After all you only have 2 days to yourself each week and it would be dum to waste half of them!smiley - biggrin

But what's wrong with doing nothing? Most people have such busy lives, and everyone seems to think it's a terrible waste to spend time with your feet up staring into space, or whatever. Some people feel obligated to do, do, do, so they can look back on the weekend and check off a mental "things to do" list. But staring into space is no less valid than, say, doing the ironing, clearing out the garage or playing tennis.

I don't laze away every Sunday, but when I do I invariably feel rested and content by Monday morning. I've had my staring into space time, now it's time to get on with the week.

Of course, if you're a natually very active person, the idea of spending an hour or two drifting with your thoughts is probably horrifying!

I suppose what I really think is that Sundays should be spent doing exactly what you feel like on the day.

Some of the most relaxing sundays i've had have involved lying in bed late reading and listening to the "Wireless" as my dad calls it. Get up and have a lovely breakfast. Veg out infront of the TV for the afternoon. Light Dinner and then off to the cinema for the evening.

Hit the leaba (Irish for bed) about 11 or halfpast feeling as if i had never risen that morning. Sets me up for the coming week.

My attitude is take at least one day off to just unwind in whatever way you want
