Pride and Prejudice is one of my favourite books, I managed to fall in love with Mr Darcy when I was thirteen. But that in itself is slightly questionable. Did these people ever have sex with each other and discover that they were not compatible? Emile Zola wrote about people copulating in the nineteenth century, and I'm assuming that since Mr and Mrs Bennet had five daughters, they must also have had intimate relations (what a scary thought!) Why is it that sex is hardly ever written about in the nineteenth century?

Because polite society doesn't talk about such things. It went on and everyone knew about it, otherwise why such the who ha when Lydia went off with Wickham? Also the character Harriet in Emma is illegitimate.
