I always thought Brain's Faggots had brains in them when I was small.

This did not put me off in any way.

In fact, I am shocked and disgusted that the name has been changed to Mr Brain's Faggots.

Honestly. The easily put off should be.

They made faggots as the daily special in the works canteen the other week - lovely big ones, wrapped in some membraneous substance (I didn't ask).

Yes mash & peas was the first choice veg for these as I recall from my childhood. I used to love them.

Thanks for explaining this bizarre food, which nobody where I come from would eat at gunpoint (or even say out loud).

On the other hand, old folks' homes in North Carolina are plagued by arguments between the staff - who want everybody to eat healthy - and the residents, who demand their liver mush sandwiches:
