Hi ismarah and thanks for subbing this entry for me!

I notice you changed the following:

'Other countries hold national and regional competitions outwith this framework'

to '... competitions with this framework'.

This changes the original meaning from competitions which are not part of the world champs to competitions which are. Hey, maybe it's a typo. Sorry to be a pedant!

The other changes were all real improvements, by the way.

And finally, a big thankyou for leaving the Neil Young pic in. I thought that would go for sure. smiley - cheers You're a total star.

The point, as I understood it was that the national competitions were held with the same frame, in a like style. If that´s not what you meant, then I just totally misunderstood the point (eeek)
Glad you liked the rest of the changes! And this will be filed as fanmail, you bet smiley - smiley

Sorry - what I meant was that there are other competitions which have nothing to do with the world championships/qualifiers, hence "outwith this framework".

Sorry for the confusion!

Hi the_league_against_helium,

Ismarah brought this thread to my attention so that I can change back the text, but I'm still not clear what you're trying to get at. Do you mean 'without this framework'? Sorry for being dense, I'm feeling fuzzy today!

Anna

Hi Anna and thanks for helping out!

The original entry says something like:

'...official national qualifying titles in Australia, New Zealand, Austria and Norway. Other countries hold national and regional competitions outwith this framework; for example the UK National Air Guitar Competition has been held since 1995.'

What I meant was that there are official qualifying events for the world championships in Oz, NZ, Austria and Norway. There are also competitions in other countries which have nothing to do with the world championships, and don't qualify you for anything except ridicule by skeptical audience members.

Apologies if this isn't clear in the original, and thanks to both of you for pointing it out. Here's a suggested rewrite which hopefully makes the distinction clearer (I hope you don't mind smiley - smiley) :

----------------------------------------------------------------------
Initially dominated by Finnish competitors, the championships are now beginning to deserve their 'World Event' status with the recent addition of official national qualifying titles in Australia, New Zealand, Austria and Norway. Other countries hold national and regional competitions which have no connection to the World Championships; for example the UK National Air Guitar Competition has been held since 1995.

If you miss the official world heats, you can have a crack at the qualifying event in Finland the night before the final. You can even enrol in an air guitar training camp to prepare for the main event.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Incidentally, the championships have come and gone once more since I wrote this. Zac "Mr. Magnet" Munro won again, becoming the first person ever to win it twice.

Thanks again folks!

smiley - cheers
