A Conversation for Scalextric

After a new-toy-deprived childhood, I finally got introduced to Scalextrics a couple of years ago. We decided that a vitally important component of our student house would have to be a deluxe Scalextric set. The only problem is that student houses tend to have limited room (and even more limited tidying up frequencies) and so we rarely have space and time to set the track up.
Unbeatable, though.

Aye, I well remember the finger pain involved in assembling and disassembling my old Scalextric track.
You could afford a Scalextric on a student budget!? Has it got cheaper since I was a lad? I remember the set I wanted (Scalextric 200 set) - and never got - back in about 1980 was about £100 then!

This was at the start of the year when we all had our loans. We decided that Scalextric would be far more important in the long run than textbooks, rent, food, etc., and so bought (between us all) a top of the range Scalextric set, costing over £100. Expensive, maybe, but worth it
