The origins of the music to God Save... are quite obscure as you say, but at one time or another it has been used as the national anthem by something like seventeen European countries and is still used by Lichtenstein - as any good tax-avoiding accountant will tell you.

Yes, and so it is stated in the article, I believe. There was even supposed to be a link the the words to the Liechtenstein one somewhere, but I think the link didnĀ“t work and so it was taken out.

I put the link to the Liechtenstein word in because I found out by accident that they used the same melody. Didn't know about the other countries though.
