A Conversation for Affirmation and Prayer - a Common Process

Affirmation

Yes!
We all need affirmation, and 'oftentimes' (nice english word, that) there is nobody else around to affirm us but ourselves.
We still need to hear it from others, though. All people are made that way. I believe the connection is that through hearing something, there is a section of the brain that responds to that spoken message, (Technical, aren't I?), enabling our beliefs to alter slightly.
This happens toward both the negative as well as positive tendencies.
A child who has heard much criticism ("You'll never amount to anything", "you're a weirdo", or what have you) will grow up believing that about themselves to some degree. So also will a child who has heard much praise ("You can do it", "you are very smart", etc.) grow up to believe that about themselves.
Adults are not immune from hearing messages repeated, and having them affect behaviors. Just because we are "all growed up", that does not mean we do not need positive affirmations.
So, go hug your friend, partner, child, neighbor, and let them know that they are a blessing to be around. (Duck if they try to clock you.) Show that appreciation to those that matter to you, and it will make both the other person and you feel better about life.

a girl called Ben

Thanks for reading, Dragonlady, and thanks for posting. And you are SO right about the dangerous power of what is said to children...

All the best

Hi again, Ben!smiley - ok
It is also important that we, as adults, say the 'good' things to other adults around us.
I do so agree with your views!
