great entry - held my attention right to the end. i have every expectation that your entries will continue to blossom and grow
i haven't made the link to swimming and running before, and to why they are a good way to overcome depression (A685037).
what about group self-affirmation? couldn't this be applied to h2g2 itself: we tell individuals "you all have something worthwhile to write about". check out how much affirmation goes on in peer review.

Thanks for your comments. I am glad you liked my entry. (There is a list of other stuff I have written here on my home page).
I had not really considered group affirmation. Now that you mention it, it is a blinding ommission in the entry. Compare and Contrast a Ra-Ra Sales Meeting with an Evangelical Church Service....
Drat!
Thanks again for your comments.

never mind this would make an entry all of its own.
group-affirmation is in some way at the heart of all functioning groups of people, even societies. it would be interesting
once again, good stuff

I guess it would. Unfortunately it is a long time since I have been at any ra-ra meetings, and I have not ever been to a really good revivalist church service.
Volunteers anyone?
