A Conversation for Gender-Free Pronouns

Nice work

The Guy With The Brown Hat

That was a really fascinating, well-written entry. However I think you should have emphasised the use of 'they' and 'their' more, as those are arguably the most commonly used gender-free pronoun. I've never heard, and rarely seen written, the 'hir'/'sie'/etc. variant .. which to me just sounds totally contrived.

Well I use 'sie', so smiley - tongueout Personally I find 'sie' the most elegant solution, but it'd be hopelessly naive to expect it to catch on beyond a few niches. One makes do.

You're right, though: when I moved the article to wikipedia ( http://www.wikipedia.org/gender-neutral_pronoun ), that was one of the things I changed: they've got a much better enforced policy on neutrality over there.

Anyway, thanks for the comments smiley - smiley
