Hitting #5 on the British charts in September of 1965 with "Its Good News Week". I bought their 45rpm single for one Canadian dollar in Chilliwack B.C. at the age of 14. It was only the second record that I had ever purchased and I can still repeat some of the lyrics.
Given that Canada has a strong British heritage and that my own mother was a war bride from Edinburough and that North America was in the throes of the "British Invasion" during my teen years, I guess it was natural that I was more influenced by culture from overseas that from the huge melting pot less than 10 miles to the south of my home.
Influenced by; Hancock's Half-hour, The Prisoner, The Broons and Oor Wullie annual compilations given to me by my grandmother and of course the music that changed everything, The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, and in their own small way Hedgehoppers Anonymous it's little wonder that I have ended up posting here on a BBC web site created to honor the style of what is in North America an obscure science fiction series.
