That the huge season finale-type episode set in 2010, where they send a message back to themselves to stop themselves going to the planet that they have to go to in order for them to want to send the message back to themselves not to go to it in the first place, was the biggest cause of migraines among science fiction fans since the finale of Farscape?
Sorry about the rant, but I watched that episode about a month or so ago and still haven't actually worked out what happened

possibly, yes you are alone...
possibly not though!
Did you think it had the feeling of a finale? It gave me the impression the writers collectively slapped their heads, shouted "Doh!" and then said "omg,we're writing a sci-fi show and we've only had one time-trave-time-bending episode in four-and-a-half years"
I take it you are watching Season 4 and haven't had the pleasure that is(nt) Season 5? They go back and revisit that episode, just to confuse it a bit more!!

Well, it had all the main idea of a season finale - SG1 disbands, everyone retires, huge world-ending catastrophe that can *only* be stopped by SG1 getting back together and fighting the good fight...blah blah blah. I did like the "anti-terrorism" security measures too.
I don't know where I am in the series - the last ep I watched involved the General "retiring" and a classic moment with O'Neill at a senator's office: "Hi I'm Colonel Starsky and this is, erm, Hutch." But that was months ago, I don't have a TV at the moment I'm making o by watching Tron on DVD.

Ah, now I know where you are.
No tv? eekkkkk I'd never survive the children without Discovery Kids!
I'd have to look where 2010 came in the season, but they often have a 2 parter in the middle, a cliffhanger often, because of the way the show is broadcast in the States.

heh heh heh
um... they show 11 episodes, and stop then they show repeats, and then at some point (Just after Christmas I think) they show the other 11.
Strange but true.

There's a good explanation of 'sweeps' in the BuffyGuide FAQ, here:
