James Doohan's gutteral phrases could be understood, so he certainly wasn't speaking Glaswegian. Nobody can understand Glaswegian.

The only Klingon I ever persuaded to speak on-camera had a Glaswegian accent... Nobody was surprised...

How would James Doohan know what Glaswegian sounded like anyway? The guy's as Scottish as Terence and Philip! (i.e. Canadian!)

He's of Irish parentage, though, and he was taught his (supposedly) Scottish accent by an Aberdonian working in the CBS canteen... (The same canteen whose 1960s condiment sets did sterling service as part of Doctor McKoy's medical kit! )
