Lettuce doesn't have to be boring. Although it usually is if it's on it's own. So you might like to try mixing a few different types of lettuce, rather than just having iceburg. Try endive and lollo rosso mixed with iceburg - different flavours, colours and shapes! The bags of salad leaves that are available in supermarkets are great if you don't want to buy several lettuces...

Almost forgot - if your lettuce is looking a bit limp, you can refresh it by dunking it in a big bowl of (preferably ice-cold) water for a few minutes.
