I agree !
All thumbs and toes up from me!
One thing though, Harold Holt wasn't a Head of State was he? Isn't the Queen the head of state? or maybe, yet again, I have confused teh whole issue.
Cosgit the original
PS Long live melbourne!(must have melbourne meet)

If I recall correctly, the Queen is the Head of State, but her representative in Australia is of course the Governer General. Harold Holt, as far as I know, was the PM and not the GG.

"the Queen is the Head of State" - yes, but no-one listens to a word she says.
"her representative in Australia is of course the Governer General" - yes, but no-one listens to a word he says and very few people actually *know* who he is at any given point in time.
and "Head of State" sounds sooooooo much better than "Prime Minister".
Remember....... never let the truth get in the way of a good story!

I love this article because it basically covers one of the most important aspects (beer) while being cleverly disguised as an entry on Australia's capitals.
Yay. Do resent the bit about Tassie having the best beer though. And we tell the tourists not to venture out west in QLD becuase we don't want them there (jokes)
Long live XXXX (both Bitter and Gold) Bundy Rum and BnS balls!!

I agree! This sums up Australia, Australian beer and the Australian attitude extremely well .
I also love the argument about Harold Holt. It's a good fact about Australians that we can't name more than 4 of our own PMs .
Tasmania DOES have the best beer. If you ever find Cascade's 'Four Seasons' beers (Summer Blonde, Autumn Amber, Winter Warmer or Spring Fest) try it! Best kept secret ! You could also mention the fact that most Tasmanians refer to the main part of Australia as 'North Island'.
Cheers!

Also could mention that Melbourne has either the most pubs per person or most pubs per capita of any city in the world.

I'd kill for an Aussie beer right about now. I'd even drink a Fosters if I could find it!
But, alas, no Aussie beers here in Yichang.
