Many thanks for the well-researched article, which revived many pleasant memories of this classic TV sitcom.
I have always assumed that Richard Beckinsale is the father of Hollywood actress Kate Beckinsale (probably most famous for her role in 'Pearl Harbor'.) Can anyone confirm or deny this?

And his ex-wife, Judy Low, is currently in Casualty as the evil administrator. She's just the best TV villainess, SO talented.
