A Conversation for Why Use a Fretless Bass Guitar?

This thread comes off as being a bit biased towards fretted basses (Jaco could probably handle those "impossible" basslines on his fretless. smiley - winkeye There are techniques to get a little sharper sound on fretless, too; for example, plucking the string right next to the bridge -- Hell on your fingers at first, but it gets the job done.), but that's probably just because it was written by a bassist. If every regular joe has one opinion like he has one you-know-what, every bass-player has at least half a dozen. We're weird like that. smiley - winkeye

Good entry, though, and it's nice to see us low-enders getting the limelight for once!

Indeed. Or eight.

Ran across a Baritone guitar recently. 6 string bass tuned from A to A. Bizarre.
