A Conversation for Overcoming Writer's Block

Best time to write 'unblocked' is in the morning - straight after that first coffee; the mind free of the forthcoming deluge of daily clutter and recharged for the new day.
Next best time to write is after a bit of brisk exercise - an hour or so of weeding and hoeing in the garden (Kipling) or after a good walk (Hemingway). The dull brain benefits from a surge of blood brought on by some physical activity.
Save the booze for later. You may put a symbolic bottle display if you like. Uncork it when the work's done.

The first-thing-in-the-morning works for many, but not everyone. It never works for me. The reason being that I take an hour or so to get properly completely awake. And I hate to get up, so I generally have no time to write, because I leave getting up to the last minute.
Lunchtime works for me. So do the small hours.
(So do particularly boring lectures, because writing stories as well as taking notes keeps you awake!)

Hi Runescribe, I saw some rune writing once, in a church in Wales. It was carved along the window ledge. In Pembrokeshire I believe it was. There was an ancient Celtic cross outside the door. I have a postcard of it somewhere. If I come across it I can tell you the exact place.

Cool. You don't happen to have a postcard of the writing, I suppose? It's unlikely I'll be in Wales anytime soon.

The postcard only shows the outside of the church unfortunately. The runic writing is on an inside ledge. I buy unusual postcards to use them for bookmarks, so I may find it when I pick up the right book!
