I happened to see her on an old Parkinson the other day and thought she was very amusing. I did see a series she was in about a works canteen. I didn't like the series but thought she played her part as did Julie as her mad old mother very well Marj

Allende, keeper of the luck virus.

well, what else can i add? she is certainly one of the funniest people on tv. Acorn antiques is one of the funniest sketches I have ever seen. Who could forget walters as tthe decrepit waitress carrying the bowl of soup to the table? classic! Dinnerladies was much subtler and actually owed much of its humour to woods` abiity to observe and really understand human personalities. I also saw her parkinson interview, and what struck me most was her utter modesty, she seemed to be so untouched by her fame and success

True what you say I had forgotten it was dinner ladies and I haven't seen acorn antiques in Oz yet, maybe never will. As although our ABC shows a lot of English stuff it is not always from the BBC, like The Bill. Cheers Marj

Victoria Wood has been a favourite entertainer of mine for a long time. I can remember watching Victoria Wood on TV as a kid and though I may not have got all the jokes, the visuals alone were hilarious - the dody moving camera and stilted lines and cues from Acorn Antiques were my favourite!

Rather embarasingly I used to impersonate the Julia Walter's 'old waitress' character, who used to say "Are you ready to order?" I'm not sure if that was a reoccuring character from the TV series or not? That, and, "I'm looking for my friend Kimberly, have you seen 'er?" character of Woods.

I loved Dinnerladies - that description of the difference between Shakespeare, Dickens, and Catherine Cookson adapatation was hilarious!! Anyone remember the quote?

Favourite quote from the BBC Xmas special a few years ago was her mickey take of the film Brassed Off with the warning at the begining, "Warning, this film contains strong regional accents." LOL!

Long may she continue. smiley - smiley
