A Conversation for Great Islands
Mackinac Island

Mackinac Island lies in between Lake Huron and Lake Michigan. No automobiles are allowed on the island, only horse, bike or foot traffic is permitted. The buildings and houses (mostly victorian mansions) are unchanged in 150 years. It is very expensive to stay on the island (about $150 to $700 US per night) but well worth it. I like the geological and acient natural history associated with the native americans of the area. Later, the island was the fur trading capital of the New World.
My favorite island activities include mountian bike riding, wildflowering and drinking Bell's Oberon Ale.
