I think it probably goes a little beyond A level though. I don't think I learnt about pKa's until my degree.

Oh, we did. It was awful! Never found anything so difficult in my whole life as A level Chemistry, passed by the skin of my teeth. Luckily once I got to the second year of uni there was practically no chemistry and so now I know almost nothing about it at all
