A Conversation for Etiquette for Travellers on the London Underground

The rule about putting rucksacks on the floor at your feet and luggage in spaces provided is a good one in most circumstances. I found myself providing the exception when I found myself on a full train at rush hour with a big rucksack and a suitcase, together weighing some 35kg. Taking the rucksack off was not an option - it was simply too crowded and too slow to actually do. I must, however, salute the endurance of my fellow travellers whom I fell into when the tube bumped. And my own stupid optimism in trying to get from Heathrow to Somerset under my own steam!

"The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy is a wholly remarkable book. It has been compiled and recompiled many times and under many different editorships. It contains contributions from countless numbers of travellers and researchers."
