A Conversation for George Harrison - a Tribute

Miss You, George
childoftheseventies Started conversation Jan 24, 2007
I know I'm coming into this conversation rather late (by about 5 or 6 years), but I'd just like to say that George was my favourite Beatle, and I think his contribution to the band's music was vastly underrated. Even George Martin has admitted that he didn't give George as much encouragement as he should've done.. I have The Concert for George (the one organised by Eric Clapton and held at the Royal Albert Hall) on DVD, and it never fails to move me to tears whenever I see it.
A fitting tribute to a great man, as is this article.. A touching moment for me was hearing Paul McCartney's reminicences of his old friend's love of the ukelele, and then hearing him play 'Something' (my favourite George Harrison song from the Beatle days) on the instrument, before the song went into a more conventional version on guitars and piano.. Also, Joe Brown's rendition of 'I'll See You In My Dreams' always gets to me (not a George song as far as I know, but very appropriate) with the petals falling from the ceiling.. Very moving..
I miss you a lot, George, and even though I was sadly never fortunate enough to meet you, you touched my heart..

Aww my sentiments exactly. In the Concert for George, it's always Ringo Starr's "Photograph" that gets me. Sigh...

I can't argue with you there. You've done a good job.
I'll have to bear this Ringo article in mind - I hope to soon be putting the finishing touches to articles I started about 5 years ago.

Yep - so you may well see me pop up in old conversations - I've gone through the backlog to May 2007 (as this conversation shows) so still got a few years to go.
Is the "Solo" the number of Solo articles in the edited guide? I've been overtaken - I used to be top of the pile...

Oh well - if I had to be overtaken, I'm glad it was by you. Someone I know, not a complete newbie.
And I've still written the most articles about the Isle of Wight.
Now I've just got to overtake Jimi X and get back in the top 5 at the very least...

BB I've been a sub-ed for some years, and I reckon I know most of what's already in the EG. Do you have a list of articles you want to write? If so, let me look, I'll let you know if they've already been done, and there may be scope to update, if you want (I'd have to teach you the new way of doing that)

First up is completing my "American Beatles Albums" project I started at A3418184 - but it is undergoing a complete re-write at home at the moment, and a quick search has shown that no-one else has written about them. Then next up more Isle of Wight articles; Osborne House, Isle of Wight Forts and then one about Victorian clockwork guided missiles (which should tie in quite nicely with steampunk being popular at the moment)
I hope you're not planning on sneakily writing articles about them and getting there first.

Your Osborne House will tie in nicely with my Queen Victoria projectA13915181
and Steampunk has been done: A38083601 but that's an overview
Moi? as if I would! I'm too busy filling the Guide with astronomy articles C55844 and Cleethorpes C56032
BTW, can you guess what my 100th EGE was?

Oh! I thought when you said "no, I have linked to it from this article", you were still playing the guessing game, and it was one of the articles linked from the Roy Orbison article. I liked that article - even though I don't own much Roy Orbison apart from Travelling Wilburys and "Pretty Paper" on a Christmas CD.
I can't remember which was my 100th one - probably part of the Yorkshire Castles University Project.
