Hey, this is definite proof of telepathy, I've formulated this exact argument in my mind previously. 
I think one problem is that we tend more and more to think of _our_ rights and _society's_ duties, failing to realise that we're the bricks society is made out of.
As individuals we can of course not fullfill all of society's duties, but neither can we completely ignore them and only demand our rights.
