I don't like the bit at the top, I think the only communal duites we have are not to nick stuff or kill people or treat others like s**t.

I'm sorry you don't like it. Sadly, you (and all the millions of others like you) not liking stuff about their duties to society is the problem, and the reason for my writing the article in the first place. [Nothing personal, OK? ]
The justification of this is the stuff that society provides for you: do you expect to get it all for free?

What other communal duties do we really have? (Other than those already mentioned)

Well, for a start, we have a duty to respect in others all those 'rights' we claim for ourselves. Most communal duties are enshrined in law (the law of whatever land you're in), so you could also say that respecting the law(s) is a communal duty....
