I'm afraid I microwaved it though. Cover the bowl loosely with clingfilm and microwave it on 700 - 750 for ten minutes or so. I have boiled them in the past, but the lure of the short cooking time was too strong this year.

And I completely forgot to come back and say that this recipe was a TRIUMPH.
I am pretty sure that these were the best puddings I've ever made, and I have made a few and if you want independent confirmation a) my husband ate them willingly and repeatedly (I made two quite big puddings), and a guest for one of the occasions I brought them out for also raved.
Definitely using this recipe again next year.
