Anyone heard anything about a possible remake of "The Wicker Man"?

It's been blathered about. Who cares. Lightning does not srike twice...
On the other hand, shooting Shaffers WKM II script would at least be interesting.

Try that for size. Director Neil LaBute (most well known for his 1997 debut 'Company of Men') wants to move the story to the US, cast Nicolas Cage as Howie and have Whine-ona Ryder star as well.
Sounds so awful as to be beyond belief.

Having Nicolas Cage attached is surely a good indicator that it won't actually happen. Spuerman Lives, Batman V, Ghost Rider...

The fact that LaBute is mostly associated with a collection of movies which have mostly failed to set the box office smoldering, never mind alight, is also a hopeful sign that it will never happen...

They are definitely doing a remake. I can confirm this, as I saw some of the filming, which took place on one of Canada's Gulf Islands. The production is based in Vancouver. I don't know anything more than that, except that it involves a two-minute scene of a ferry landing at aforementioned island, including two minutes of dialogue and a seaplane.

Ah, no, you want to go see Wicker Man so that you can see Saturna Island. Very cool place. You'll be so impressed with the scenery (yes, of the ferry dock) that you'll want to go there on holiday.
Mind you, we do have a very nice ferry dock. Very clean and well-maintained washrooms.
